About Us
Who We Are...
At One Journey Clinical Counselling, we have been privileged to come along side clients as witness to the roots of symptoms.
Whether navigating depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, grief, loss, relationship challenges, or feelings of defeat and lack of purpose, your journey is valid, and you don't have to walk it alone.
Clinical Counselling Approaches
We draw on a variety of evidence-based modalities, following the client's lead as to what is most relevant and effective to their healing and growth journey.

EMDR Therapy
Normally, your brain processes experiences automatically, but trauma can overwhelm this system. EMDR therapy helps reconnect memory networks so your brain can naturally process and heal from the traumatic event.

Gottman Method for Couple's Counselling
This approach uses evidence-based techniques to improve communication, build trust, and resolve conflict, strengthening the couple’s relationship and emotional connection.

Emotionally Focused Therapy
EFT is rooted in attachment theory and helps strengthen emotional bonds. This approach can be used in couples, individual, and family therapy. EFT can improve emotional health, communication, and relationship security.

Emotion-Focused Family Therapy
EFFT supports families in addressing emotional needs, repairing relationships, and empowering caregivers to help loved ones through mental health challenges.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
ACT helps individuals accept difficult emotions, clarify their values, and commit to actions that align with those values, fostering psychological flexibility and well-being.

Music-Integrated Therapy
This creative approach incorporates music to enhance emotional expression, reduce stress, and support healing, making therapy more accessible and meaningful.

Meet Melanie Jill Konynenberg
B.Mus, MC, Rcc #19883
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alberta and a Master’s degree in counselling psychology from Athabasca University. I offer a blend of compassion and life experience to my work as a registered clinical counsellor. I have been a mom for 22 years and married for 25 years, which has given me a deep understanding of the complexities of family life and the challenges we face at different stages. Having navigated life’s ups and downs with resilience and hope, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their own experiences and uncover their strengths.
I have had the privilege of supporting children, youth, and adults in both community and private practice clinical counselling settings. I have worked at OSNS as a behavior interventionist in the autism intervention program, One Sky Community Resources, various schools, and Penticton Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Therapeutic experiences include the support of trauma, depression, grief and loss, anxiety, autism, ADHD, parenting, spirituality, and relationships. Music-integrated therapy is available.
I am an EMDR trained therapist, with additional training in recent events protocol and EMDR for children. I have completed trauma-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, emotionally focused therapy for individuals level 1 certification, ADHD certification training: supporting neurodiverse clients, emotion-focused therapy for families, and Gottman levels one and two for couples. I also completed an ACT intensive course and Trauma Treatment Certification (EMDR, CBT, and somatic-based interventions for trauma work).
Therapy from a Christian perspective and autism services are available upon request.
